In the latest chapter of Hi, I'm Lance, Jakob meets Lance's father.
Read Meeting No. 11 [Chap. 8] here.
While Lance and Jakob figure out what they are, it became evident to Lance that Jakob was important enough to introduce him to his father.
Gay or straight, such occasions can be very unsettling. Not only do you worry about what your parents will think of your love interest, but you also worry about what your love interest thinks of your parents.
In my case, it actually happened before either of us were out to our parents. We all met at a dinner under "event" circumstances, so there was no real scrutiny of boyfriends.
I find it heartwarming to hear of so many friends speak highly of their "in-laws" (whether married or not). I know I have felt very loved by his family, even more so than what my family puts forth for him.
Parents will continue to play a significant role in the lives of Mike, Trent, Lance and Jakob. Stay tuned.
Just read the new chapter. I just love Jakob with a K! My heart breaks for what he went through...things he didn't deserve. I think Jakob and Lance are good together. The moment between Jakob and Lance's father was so heartwarming. I have to admit I wasn't going to read the story at all. Lance on his own is a much more likeable person. I came to the conclusion that my problem isn't with Lance, my problem is with Trent. I still think that Trent would cheat on Mike at the drop of a hat, and he sends mixed signals to Lance. Perfect example, I feel showing Lance pics of him and of Mike was inappropriate despite the fact that they've all been together. Trent and Mike are in a relationship, and he knows that Lance has feelings for him. Also the fact that he claims he can talk to Lance about anything, but doesn't exactly do that with Mike. Just my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteYou have done it again. Slow and steady for Lance and Jakob. Mike is out of town. I am concerned…
ReplyDeleteAn interesting chapter. Trent is, I think, a lot more immature than Lance is. He had no business showing Lance those photos on his phone without Mike's permission. The more I get into this series, the more I like and respect Lance, and my feelings about Trent are increasingly ambivalent.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some great romances that began in early sobriety. Like everything else, the advice about no change in relationships for a year is only a suggestion. lol
ReplyDeleteA really good chapter. I'm glad things are progressing between Lance and Jakob. They need each other, I think.
