Well, this chapter answers a lot of questions.
If you haven't read Chapter 28 yet, stop reading this right now and do that first.

The biggest news here was finally finding out who L.B. was.
The first appearance of L.B. was in Chapter 3 of A Bed, A Desk and My Unfortunate Soulmate. At the time, readers didn't know who Mitch's new love was. If this was a television series, I wouldn't have been able to have the "reveal" I did in this last chapter.
So now that it is out in the open, let's answer some questions.
* Way back in June of 2023, when I posted Carter's first appearance, did I have plans for him then?
The answer is "yes." Believe it or not, I had started figuring out how to make a book for Mitchell. I knew Cooper didn't choose him because of the final chapter of Coffee at 9. But I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could write Mitchell's story and make readers like him. It has been the hardest book to write, actually.
* When you first used the initials for Mitch's boyfriend/partner, did you know what they stood for?
Yes, I had that figured out too. All of this has been in my head for the past year. It was just a matter of the story getting to the right timing.
* There's a note at the end of this chapter that there is only one chapter left. Will we see Carter after that?
I think so. So often, (duh), I write a story and a secondary character develops. It happened with Lance and Jakob, which then led to Cooper's and Laramie's stories. They all organically flow into something of their own. I wasn't sure Carter would need his own book because he revealed so much in these past chapters. BUT! In the past weeks, I have a story working in my head that once again challenges me to do something different. Hopefully I can get around to it one day.
* If that is still a long way away, what's next for our characters?
No one knows for sure what the future holds. I could be in a plane crash or suddenly become paralyzed and can't type. But if life is kind, I have a few more books in the works. I'll share more in the next post. Emory will be the protagonist of Book Nine. I'm trying to make a story about Brad gel. Then I'll return to our boys in college. (I'll be writing for the rest of my life.) Something different with Carter will surface following all that. Again, if life cooperates. Four years ago, I never thought a little stay-at-home diversion during a pandemic would keep me this busy. Seriously!! I thought I was only going to write for a few weeks.
Thanks for joining me.
I love Mitch to bits but am glad it’s finishing. What I’m grateful for is the move of Larry and Mitch becoming friends. You could have made it a train wreck but didn’t.
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed that there is only one chapter left. I love all your stories but this one especially.
ReplyDeletek.m.
LB has finally shown up and I am happy Carter is still in good graces. He has won a spot in my heart along with Mitchell. While they both have flawed pasts they are now good guys and deserve this chance at happiness. Your cliffhanger in the penultimate chapter threw me into a panic ha ha. I am looking forward to your next endeavor and I am still looking forward to the last of "Sparkleland".

Larry seems more concern about what Mitch thinks than Mitch does. Mitch has accepted Larry totally and obviously likes him, so like the other poster stated, it is good they are friends rather than set up a Dynasty Alexis vs Krystal type end up in the pool fighting. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOverall it's great to get to the end of the road with Mitch. A wonderful changed man and total hero. As for future stories, not my place to say but I do want to see the others a lot more in future stories. I miss them.
ReplyDeleteBy others I mean Jakob, Mike, Trent and Lance. I still feel there is something deeper between the four of them which Cooper, Mitch and Larry may not approve of but to explore that more would be great, might offend the morals police but anyway it's already happened their get together.
DeleteDammit! I didn't want to like this story because I started out not liking Mitchell at all because of how he cheated on Cooper. I put off reading the story because of my attitude and only recently caught up. You, however, have managed to do it again and have woven his whole story in such a way that he's turning into a character I like a lot! My favorites, though, are still Corey and Laramie!
ReplyDeleteCH
Yes, Corey and Laramie are my favorites too. Mitchell was 'the bad guy' before he got a compelling redemption arc and became a character I cared about a lot. The last few chapters I've felt a bit indifferent about him.
DeleteTired of the morals police. It's not compulsory to be monogamous or in face open. Mitchell has been the best character to date because he came to a decision for himself to be monogamous. Remember the others had a four way orgy yet you lot don't condemn that, you think they are all goodie goodie. No they are human.
DeleteJust wanted to tell you that I have enjoyed your Jackson Bend series and I hope it continues and this is not the end of your "Tales of Jackson Bend". I have read them all and am awaiting the final chapter of Sparkland. I agree with you that relationships make the sex/porn hotter. Your series has relationships, friendship, love, community, family, soap opera and sex which is a great combination for me. Much of it is pure fantasy but I can be a bit like Blanche in "Streetcar named Desire". "I want magic" and your series provided it to me along with a few tears, which surprised me.
ReplyDeleteThank you again and I'm looking forward to more of what you write.
