No gay experience is very likely to be exactly alike another. Each one is bound to be unique.
In my stories, I have dealt mostly with parents and occasionally siblings when it comes to family. In this chapter, Aiden comes out to aunts and uncles, as well as grandparents. I felt it important to show the different experiences one can expect.

I'm sure there are individuals who have been incredibly fortunate to have amazingly accepting families. That's awesome. On the flip side, I'm certain that many people have suffered negative reactions — sometimes possibly traumatic.
Curiously, I never came out to extended family. After my partner had been with me for many years, I think it just got "assumed." The word "partner" got thrown around occasionally, but there was never a big Out Moment for me.
And I'm okay with that. I didn't need either any drama nor fanfare.
Ironically, it was almost the same for "his" side of the family. He had a discussion with his parents before we moved in together, but there was never a real time with his siblings or relatives. It was most likely discussed behind our backs or just organically assumed.

After writing eight books, you'd think I would have covered the bases in terms of sexual interactions. The final one in this chapter intrigued me. I found it kind of erotic while also being curious, as Corey wondered if he could do it with a girlfriend and it not count as sex.
I never want my primary erotic scenes to become too rote and "phoned in." The platform insinuates that readers can find sexual content, so I do feel some sort of responsibility of providing that, but having written thousands of pages now, moving the plot and developing the characters are far more important to me. Corey's "idea" just intrigued me.
This love story surrounding friendship instead of a romantic couple has been a rewarding experience for me as an author. It has pushed me.

I enjoyed the installment. Funny how it didn't trigger me as I find Christmas does. But what I found funny was near the end when Lance and Jakob left. Larry winked and Aidan found it curious. I wonder if Larry and Cooper know about Mike, Jakob, Trent and Lance's four way sex. Or will it never be spoken of again? Does not matter but yeah can't lie, it may be Corey's story but would be great if Aidan found out about that.

ReplyDeleteI wish men would worldwide accept that regardless of how they identify their sexuality, they will likely have sex in their life with the same gender. This story shows that.
DeleteYeah agree, if I had sex with a straight guy like what is in this chapter, I never expected them to love me. But I also demanded they either say stop that now and don't blame me. I think what Lance says is fine, but in a way he's ended up with Trent as the other stories saw Mike happily sharing him with Lance after not approving when Lance had the drinking problem. Sexuality is clearly complex, but men need to think twice as just because a man has sex with a man that does not mean he's gay. And clearly although not discussed across the books, the four way between those men must be known by Larry and Cooper and even if they are not participating, they surely must approve. I'd love for Corey and Aidan to find out, not saying go down the incest path but. However, Corey clearly may have a sexuality of straight but likes Aidan as a sex partner and yes I agree with a previous comment, they are having sex. We will find out one day, but yes if a man has sex with a man but marries and woman and remains faithful to her and identifies as straight, they need to accept that and just go ok I had sex with a guy. Oh and also the carvings of Jakob and Larry, they sound great.
DeleteWell, I think Corey is a Kinsey 1 or 2 at any rate. Whether or not they might enjoy a contact like Corey and Aiden had, the straight men I have known would not be willing to engage like that, even the younger ones. Yes, sexuality and love are complex, but the societal forces are strong and still very much not in favor of men having sexual contact with men despite what one sees on Nifty. ;-)

I'm late to the party here. The chapter was ok. I am enjoying it. Corey may end up with a female but it's obvious no matter what he thinks he enjoys the action with Aiden and yes totally agree with other posters, it IS sex even if it's experimenting. Thanks for Sparkle and Soulmate. BTW too I have to agree with another poster, there seems to be more going on with Mike et al, like Larry seems to know the other four do group sex, so yeah that would be good to explore and see Corey and Aiden's reactions to finding out.
