I hate to become a broken record and keep saying “I enjoyed
this chapter.” Maybe because I am pouring so much feeling into Laramie’s
character, it is reaching me as much as you. I just embraced Laramie feeling
new things this chapter.
Plus! For the remainder of the book, Corey continues to
develop as a principal character. I had always liked Corey, but since he had
never really had much opportunity to be a realized “voice,” I just thought he
was a necessary — and likable — secondary character. But as so often happens in
my books, secondary characters grow on me and soon develop into major
characters. Expect that in this situation.

But let's talk about Laramie. Between plane flights, roller coasters and time on the beach, the story lets us see more vulnerability in our Kansas-born protagonist. One thing about Laramie, he can be quite the open book to those in his circle. It's that vulnerability that creates more emotional depth.
Now and then, I do something goofy on the blog. Recently, I provided a playlist of sorts. Now I am offering a few photos from the trip to Tampa.
A warm and fuzzy chapter. I love these characters so much. Especially when Corey told Laramie the family thought. Thank you for sharing this family w us.

Best chapter…never want this story to end although I know it will.

I love that Laramie is finally finding the family he so badly deserved. My two favorite lines from the chapter:
ReplyDeleteI had come to realize that Cooper and Corey were giving me a sense of family.
"Calling you Laramie like Dad does means ... you know, we're all family."
Seeing Mitch again did surprise me. I now feel bad for him where I didn't before. Thanks again for giving me excellent entertainment tonight.

I have just finished chapter 17 and OMG talk about having my heart strings pulled — you just took us from one wonderful moment/interaction to the next . Even the interaction between Laramie and Mitchell was weirdly heart tugging.
ReplyDeleteThank you for another great chapter. I'm probably well off the mark, but my spidery sense tingles at the possibility of Cooper and Laramie getting married before this story concludes. I know it's against everything both characters have previously said, but let me have my dream :), and don't confirm or deny, let me enjoy the ride that is Laramie/Cooper and Corey.

I know, I know, this is gonna get old but BEST CHAPTER EVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the family dynamic between the three of them. I feel they’ve all found their groove with each other.

Once again you’ve outdone yourself Timothy!
ReplyDeleteI loved this chapter, and considering we Wintered in Largo for over 15 years and our favorite area beach was Sand Key, which is just across the canal from Clearwater Beach, I could picture where they were.
Not trying to be negative in any way, but as a point of clarification, that’s not the ocean there, it’s the Gulf of Mexico, which to many seems the same.
I spent hundreds of hours in a beach chair watching the sun go down, never ever tiring of it. How I envy Cooper and Laramie, though. They discovered themselves and one another early enough in their lives to find true love and happiness.
