Here we are at Chapter 16 and graduation nears.
There is a lot for Trent to process in this chapter. He is torn in so many directions. There are highs and lows. Some of them are owed to the person he has become — and accepted — and how far he still has yet to go, even though he has come so far. Others are a result of his judgement calls.
One of the biggest factors of wrapping up college is saying goodbye. Any goodbyes are hard (assuming you care for the people). The college years can be very bonding. But no matter how close you are to someone, saying goodbye to someone and knowing you will never see them again is a heartfelt theme in this chapter.
Trent comes across as really paranoid in this chapter. Even his insecurities have insecurities! I feel really sorry for Lance. It wouldn't surprise me if he committed suicide in the not too distant future. I hope he finds someone before it comes to that.
ReplyDeleteBalls Deep! Great name and probably a well crafted edit :-P It's funny because Mike basically asked him to do so. The things people do to find love hey! When will Trent teach Mike something or give Mike the space/tools to grow? Will they even be equals?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the age thing is more on Trent's mind than any of his friends. I think Lance will find love along with himself. Trent may always be his first but there is someone out there for him. He will figure he has been lucky than most people who find themselves in love with a person who can't return it. For he gotten to experience intimate sex plus a great bonding friendship with that person.
