Coming Out to Parents

Almost all of us have done it. That day you tell your parents and/or family. It's tough. Not everyone has the same reaction. From my friends'  personal stories, I know it sometimes goes well, but it is not a guarantee.

I told both my parents at the same time. I was determined to do it. The schedule went off track, but I wasn't letting them leave without me telling them the whole truth. Once it is out, there truly is a sense of relief. It really is a weight off one's shoulders.

Chapter 7 puts Trent in this scenario. You can read it here:

Blessings to all.

  1. I told my father first. He was unexpectedly supportive, being most concerned with the health issues that plagued gay men in the early 1980s. My mother did not take the news well at all, but she eventually came around. Surprisingly, my grandmother reacted to the news better than my mom did!
