College

Chapter 5 is now posted. You can find it here:

Chapter 5

Trent’s college life is becoming intense. When I began posting If It Weren’t For the Two of Us, I had to make a decision of whether to post this in “Adult Friends” or “College” on Nifty. Extracurricular was easier as Mike was 30. Because this was a continuation, I opted to keep it in Adult Friends, knowing graduation would eventually come and college would be left behind. However, the two months before graduation for Trent — and Lance! — would be very critical in their lives. It was a tough call for me.

Because I chose as I did, I don’t know if I have any college readers out there. If so, drop me an email (timothylane414@gmail.com) or comment here on the blog. If any of my readers have college friends who might enjoy the stories, I’d love the recommendation.

Having said that, I’d like to make one. Miles From Home by Roman Jeffries deserves a shout out. The story is listed under College on Nifty. I found his writing very inspirational. The characters really came alive; it transcended the formulaic sexual redundancy. I came to really care what happened to the characters. I hope you will give it a read. That story was one that inspired me to put my own writing out there.

Chapter 6 is coming soon. It’s a goodie.

  1. Timothy,

It would be a shame if you didn't have college readers. I understand your dilemma. It's sad that I did not have Trent's college experience. I didn't come out until years later. College would have extra pressures, but I think being surrounded by friends would be a very positive thing. Plus, I was on a Christian college campus. My sheer confession would have removed me from school.

I have enjoyed picturing what a gay life in college would have been like. Thanks for that, even with all its awkward circumstances.

  2. I followed Timothy's recommendation of Roman Jeffries's narrative 'Miles from Home'. I strongly agree with Timothy's recommendation. Once I began reading 'Miles from Home', I couldn't put it down. And what Timothy says about the characters is the same as my experience of them: "The characters really came alive; it transcended the formulaic sexual redundancy. I came to really care what happened to the characters. " Thanks, Timothy, for calling our attention to this extraordinary and deeply felt narrative.
